Harm’s Road is a postmodern-pop band that incorporates a wide range of elements into its poly-stylistic whole. It started with the back-yard meeting of Erin and Bob, and moved to the living-room with writing sessions and a bass player, then adding a string player and descending to the basement, finally to the garage with a drummer.
That may have been were is started but, the drive comes from long lonely nights in foreign lands. after years of dabbling in their respective crafts, it was not until Erin and Bob became isolated did they hone their skill and started to write, Erin in New York and Bob in Japan.
Each member brings a different component to the discourse, Bob has a foundation in classic and alternative rock, Erin brings to the table skills learned in musical theater, Ludwig adds classical sensibilities, Alex tunes in with the low end metal, and Mario brings jazz drumming and his man love for Neil Peart. Together they excel at deconstructing the tropes of pop, twisting the remains and adding elements from seemingly random styles. From there the focus is on creating something new and beautiful, embracing the juxtaposition, ambiguity, and ironies that evolve, all the while holding onto the punk ethic: DIY and it doesn’t matter if its “right”, it only matters that it sounds good.
