On the flip side, CMW ( Canadian Indy Music Awards ) consider Voivod, 3 Inches Of Blood, Protest The Hero etc to be independant. (apparently being on Roadrunner means you are indy?) Not sure where that 'line' is drawn or what different associations consider to be independant or not. That being said, UTA made the Top 50 and we are 100% financed and managed from within the band. So they are definately looking at some other factors than whether you are connected to CFOX or whatever..
Hey Boys; I gotta wonder what's up. At 6:05pm on Monday, there's a message on our site congratulating us on making the Top 50. Tuesday morning, the message is still there. Tuesday, 1:30pm, message still there. Tuesday, 2:15pm, new message saying sorry you didn't make the Top 50 this year. What da hell?!?*
You guys nailed it Warfakers got songs with 5000 plays and only 25 viewers they only have 45 friends and 20,000 plays an zero playlists. Would have been nice to be able to show the world our honest tunes. the fakers wont win but they sure took our spot. Nate
How can you have over 1600 friends yet there is someone in the top 50 with less than 200 friends????Yup...I call bullshit!!! I didn't make it either but thats ok because we are having alot of fun and lovin' every minnute of it..
This seeds thing has bin a farce from the start. I've known a lot of guys that have bin in "winning" bands and most of them had connections in the Industry whether it be certain production companies or They have already got record deals. Hey I'm not saying they weren't good but where is the line of "Independent". By the way this is the fucking music industry there are no lube or reach arounds. So if your not prepared to either sell your grandmother or just do it for the love of music Quit now and get a full time job with a good pension cause your not cut out for it! If you truly believed in your music, you would see that it doesn't matter whether you make it with a certain industry or not. If you really work hard and get your stuff out there, somebody's going to notice. That's what SuperNova's for; they help bands play shows all over, for next to no work on our side. Now I'm not really sure what this CFOX thing is, but it doesn't matter if you're not brought in by them. Just because a few people may not have enjoyed your music as thoroughly as you'd have hoped, there are people that do.
Keep that shit flowin' guys, you're fckn' sweet. Just enjoy the music.
fail, i know bands that have won. they deserve to win. go to one of their shows... then go to one of your shows.. there is a difference. we lost, but we dont think its "outside forces". Hope you can get over it Cheers
Its a strong accusation you put out there - cheating by people in the top level of this competition. If you have proof it should be posted ie the production company name and the bands who they have under them.
I do agree to a certain extent it's all who ya know just like booking shows,you get good one's if ya know somebody in the club,or get your c.d. to someone with some pull.Anyhow my point is lets do a show together sometime soon. Cheers
